The incident occurred in Orange County at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 120 Parmenter St., in the city of Newburgh.
According to Mike Neppl, chief of staff for the city, officers responding to a shot spotter notification found the man with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
Officers requested emergency medical services and began life-saving measures.
Neppl said the victim was transported to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, where he died from his injuries.
The victim’s name will not be released pending notification to the family.
A suspect remains unknown, Neppl said.
